Brighton College Abu Dhabi is celebrating the best GCSE results ever, with pupils achieving exceptional academic outcomes across the curriculum despite the challenging and unprecedented circumstances surrounding this year's examination series.
The College's most commonly awarded grade was Grade 9, accounting for an exceptional 43% of all grades awarded. Overall, 60% of grades were awarded at Grades 9–8, demonstrating the considerable academic strength of this year's cohort.
Across the cohort, 76% of pupils achieved exclusively Grades 9–7 across their GCSE subjects.
Pupils performed particularly strongly across the sciences. Across the three separate sciences of Biology, Chemistry and Physics, an average of 72% of grades awarded were Grade 9, rising to an average of 93% at Grades 9–7.
Strong performance was evident across the breadth of the College's curriculum, with 18 of 24 subjects achieving 75% or more of their grades at Grades 9–6, representing an outstanding level of attainment across three-quarters of the subjects offered.
The results also demonstrate the significant academic progress made by pupils. 97 of 120 pupils achieved positive value-added of at least one grade against their target grade in one or more subjects, highlighting the progress made by pupils throughout their GCSE studies.
This year's achievements are particularly significant following the cancellation of external examinations in the UAE due to the regional conflict and the subsequent implementation of alternative assessment arrangements. Throughout this period, pupils demonstrated considerable resilience and maturity, while College staff worked with exceptional professionalism and attention to detail to ensure the rigour and integrity of the Portfolio of Evidence process.

Our pupils demonstrated the Curiosity to continue learning and striving for academic excellence, the Confidence to respond positively when circumstances changed around them, and the Kindness to support one another throughout what was an unusual and, at times, uncertain examination period.
The headline results are remarkable – not least that Grade 9 was our most commonly awarded grade – but I am equally pleased by the progress evident across the cohort. Seeing so many pupils make progress beyond their target grades speaks powerfully to their determination and to the quality of education and support they have received.
I would particularly like to recognise our teaching and support staff. The Portfolio of Evidence process placed considerable additional responsibility upon colleagues, and they responded with enormous professionalism, dedication and attention to detail. Their commitment to ensuring the integrity of the process, while continuing to put the interests of every pupil first, deserves enormous credit.
Our parents and guardians also played an invaluable role. Their unwavering encouragement, patience and trust throughout this period exemplified the strength of the partnership between home and College.
Most importantly, today belongs to our pupils. They should be immensely proud of what they have achieved. We look forward to welcoming many of them into our Sixth Form and watching them continue to grow as curious, confident and kind young people."
Beyond their academic achievements, pupils have continued to contribute significantly to College life through leadership, sport, the performing arts, co-curricular activities and service to their community, reflecting Brighton College Abu Dhabi's commitment to developing accomplished and well-rounded young people.
