Pre-Prep School

Our children make excellent progress in all aspects of their learning and are given the best possible start to their education. The values behind our school motto ‘Be Good. Be Kind. Be Honest’ and our Code of Conduct ‘The 5 C’s - Curiosity, Courtesy, Consideration, Common Sense and Cooperation’ form the basis of our high expectations of all.

Children are taught by highly qualified, experienced and passionate teachers.  Our curriculum, tailored to meet individual needs, ensures that each child makes excellent progress whilst enjoying learning and being highly involved in school life.

Nursery

Nursery is a place of fun and learning in a nurturing and caring environment.  Through our innovative, play based curriculum we encourage children to be creative, confident and curious learners.

Nursery and Foundation Stage Two follow the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum.

Learning through play, learning through the environment and learning through meaningful and engaging experiences are key elements that build the foundations for a love of learning.

Children’s interests and passions lie at the heart of our robust, high quality Early Years curriculum. Our learning focused environment provides the space needed for children to direct and shape their experiences in partnership with our Early Years specialists.

At the end of each child's year in our Nursery, they will be fully prepared for their next step to move up seamlessly into Foundation Stage Two.

Foundation Stage Two

Our FS2 classes are happy and welcoming and the children build on their academic, social, emotional and physical development. This is where their confidence and independence are developed further, as tasks are devised to challenge and inspire learning in a cooperative, caring and positive environment. The children implement and demonstrate all that they learnt in Nursery to become readers and writers. They continue to investigate, count and care for and support their classmates. Children make great progress and develop their independence in preparation for the move to Year One.

Key Stage One - Years One and Two

As children move on to Key Stage One, learning becomes gradually more formal and sophisticated. Children in Years 1 and 2 remain with their class teacher for most of their day, with specialist lessons in Music, Sport and Arabic.

The English National Curriculum is followed, and learning is challenging, engaging and fun. There is a strong focus on skills in English and Mathematics, which many of our children achieve beyond age related expectations. Through active learning and inquiry over a range of interesting and varied themes, children are intrinsically motivated to learn.

Co-curricular

Pre-Prep prides itself on the great range and high level of the co-curricular activities available to the children. Our extensive facilities and specialist teachers enable the children to experience the very best opportunities in developing their skills in a range of activities that complement the curriculum.

School Council

Our Year 2 children put forward their manifestos for school council in the Autumn term and are elected by their peers.  They meet weekly to discuss school improvements and social initiatives. They lead our ‘bags of appreciation’ scheme, which allows children to show their gratitude to the ancillary staff.

“In Pre-Prep we encourage a sense of belonging created by ensuring strong bonds between home and school, and ensuring every child feels valued and part of our community. This enables children to feel safe and secure while being challenged, through exciting learning experiences and in turn leads to happy, safe learners.”

In our Early Years and Prep School, we teach the Read Write Inc. Phonics programme developed by Ruth Miskin.
We asked pupils from FS 1 to Year 2 to share the bouncy and stretchy sounds.
