Our Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education (PSHE) curriculum teaches children the skills and understanding they need to lead confident, healthy, and independent lives. We ensure our pupils are equipped with the knowledge and skills to be confident in making good decisions, regardless of what others may expect.
Pupils engage in weekly PSHE sessions, which are taught thematically and reinforced during assemblies. These lessons encourage discussion and reflection on essential topics such as relationships, personal safety, and maintaining a healthy lifestyle, fostering holistic development and well-rounded wellbeing.
Our teachers are enthusiastic experts in their subjects, passionate about engaging our pupils in their areas of expertise. Specialist teaching begins in Nursery, introducing our pupils to a wide range of interesting and varied areas of learning. As pupils advance through the school, they learn the traditional subjects of English, maths, history, geography, computing, science and PSHEE, as well as benefiting from specialist lessons in music, drama, Arabic, Modern Foreign Languages, PE and swimming.
Alongside academic learning, we encourage emotional intelligence and an understanding of wellbeing, equipping our children to deal with the ever-changing world in which they will grow.
We proudly offer a variety of leadership opportunities to empower pupils from Year 3 to Year 6. Through initiatives like the Pupil Council, pupils actively shape school improvements and lead meaningful charity projects. Roles such as House Captains and Eco-ambassadors enrich the school community by promoting kindness and creating a supportive environment. Our pupil ambassadors champion respect, digital literacy, and sustainability awareness, initiating impactful projects that benefit the entire school. Our Pupil Council ensures that pupils' voices are heard and acted upon, serving as a platform for creativity and passion to drive real change within the school.
At Brighton College Abu Dhabi, our rewards system is called The Pelican Pathway. In order to journey along the Pelican Pathway, pupils collect Pelican points which are awarded to them by our staff team. The Pelican Pathway inspires and encourages pupils to reach their full potential, wherever their strengths lie. It celebrates pupils who uphold the qualities we most value in our learning. Teachers award certificates, pins, and crests in school assemblies.
Pupil wellbeing is at the heart of everything we do. Through our school garden, pupils gain hands-on experience in sustainability and nutrition, growing their own fruit and vegetables.
Our innovative Home Economics and Lifetime Health (H.E.A.L.T.H.) curriculum equips them with essential life skills, from cooking to understanding the benefits of a healthy, balanced lifestyle.
