    Festival of Movement 2018

The Festival of Movement showcased 17 performances on the theme of ‘Pages to Stages’ on 25th-26th April. The only whole College production on the calendar was a huge success with over 250 pupils participating in two sold-out evening performances.

Dances were inspired by literature and musicals that have been made into films. During the performance we saw an empowering contact based piece on the Hunger Games; children causing riots in Matilda’s ‘Revolting Children’ and a flamboyant carnival piece for Rio. Pupils worked extremely hard to ensure that their performances were flawless and executed to perfection.

This event is an opportunity for all pupils to get a taste of the dance industry, having to go throughthe process of auditioning and training for an entire term in order to prepare for the final curtain call. We are particularly proud of pupils who have performed for the first time, performed a solo or duet or even helped choreograph.

The festival also provides an opportunity outside of dance, providing pupils who are interested in technical theatre and media the chance to develop and show their expertise. They were able to do this through programme design, producing videos, music edits and stage lighting. This year’s show will be difficult to beat but we look forward to the challenge for next year.
