The basic components of all Sixth Form Mathematics courses are:
- Core Mathematics – algebra, trigonometry, calculus, numerical methods and differential equations.
- Statistics – data presentation, probability distributions and hypothesis testing.
- Mechanics – kinematics, forces, statics and dynamics.
- Decision Mathematics – algorithms, networks and critical path analysis.
Further Study: Mathematics works well in conjunction with any other subject. Likewise, universities regard an A-level qualification in Mathematics very highly. For many science based courses it is a requirement or a strongly recommended A-level.
Exam Board: Edexcel
Course Requirements: Conceptually this subject has one of the biggest jumps from GCSE, many will find this course a challenge without a top GCSE grade. As a result an A/A* grade is expected.
