Year 9 to Sixth Form

Physical Education plays an integral part in a pupil’s timetable at Brighton College. We tailor our programme around the key educational values of promoting general and specific fitness, helping to give each pupil an active and balanced lifestyle, and providing more specific elements of strength, conditioning and skill at the elite end. We also teach all pupils lessons that can be learnt through winning and losing, both as an individual and as a team. Most of all we want pupils to enjoy sport and be inspired to play further outside of curriculum time.

In this course, pupils will develop their knowledge and understanding of Physical Education and physical activity, in relation to balanced healthy lifestyles. This includes how and why people take part in physical activity, exercise and fitness, personal health and well-being. Pupils will also develop their knowledge and understanding of how a healthy, active lifestyle contributes to the growth and development of the skeletal, muscular, cardiovascular and respiratory systems. Pupil performance will be assessed in three sports/activities and on a personally designed exercise programme.
