Brighton College

Brighton College

At Brighton College our pupil scientists will learn that Science is about thinking creatively to try to explain how living and non-living things work and to establish links between causes and effects we see around us.  Along with this, they will learn how important it is to test ideas using evidence from observation and measurement and how to analyse and evaluate that evidence.

Investigative skills will play a vital role in Prep School Science and pupils will be planning investigations; ensuring that they consider all variables, gather evidence correctly and that valid conclusions can be drawn.

The Science department will aim to develop in each pupil a sense of awe and wonder at the world around us and the way everything fits together and the influences that can be found.

Science is intended to be a fun and dynamic subject at Brighton. We organise many Science-based trips throughout the Prep School from Al-Ain Zoo to the 3D IMAX experience at Meydan Racecourse in Dubai. We run Science-based clubs and encourage our pupils to become leaders in the study of Science at Brighton College.

We follow the Common Entrance Science Curriculum at 11+ (Years 5 and 6). Our pupils always achieve amazing successes in these terminal examinations with many going on to attain places at their favoured Senior Schools, including Brighton College Senior School.
