Arabic and Islamic Studies

Every child in Pre-Prep enjoys regular Arabic lessons that are taught by specialist teachers in an engaging and hands-on way. In FS1 and FS2 pupils have bi-weekly Arabic lessons as part of their curriculum. Foundation Stage Arabic is taught through songs, games and gesture and engages all children as they have to ‘sign’ what they are saying, as well as respond to the teacher and each other in short bursts of authentic language. From Year 1 onwards the Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK) curriculum is followed. Our native Arabic speakers have four Arabic lessons a week and non-native learners three.

Islamic lessons for Muslims occur twice a week and are taught in Arabic for native speakers and in English for non–native speakers. Our Islamic teachers are specialist teachers and also offer a number of Extra Curricular options to enhance and compliment the teaching that takes place in the school day.
